POIRIER - SUBS SHUT OUT TITANS 2-0
2010-01-30
Cam Poirier earns 5th shut-out of season and a share of long-standing league record. It was fitting as the Titans celebrated Wendall Young's goaltending accomplishments and retired his jersey that a goaltender stole the show in record setting fashion!
The SUBWAYs defeated Halifax 2-0 and Cam Poirier earned his 5th shut-out of the season sharing the record with Halifax goaltender Jake Brennan. Brennan broke the record two weeks ago, one that was perviously shared by Philip David (CB 1981-82) and Trent Cavicchi (Dartmouth 1991-92). Poirier faced 45 shots in the contest, was poised and settled the game down when necessary. SUBWAY players Mark Tremaine and Ryan Davis scored on Richard Tingley who faced 29 shots in the game.
The game was fast paced, spirited, and entertaining. The Subways came out well prepared knowing full well that Halifax would want to make an impression after losing the last two games against their cross town rivals. Dartmouth scored early and got the only two goals of the game during the first 20 minutes in front of a good crowd that was very boisterous throughout.
Dartmouth has one more game left in the regular season and will travel to Port Hood for a 2pm tilt on Sunday.
Congratulations to Halifax for putting on a excellent tribute in honor of Wendell Young and the Alumni. Wendell is an outstanding person and accomplished player that we can all be proud of and look up to!
Go SUBS Go!
